In the forests of Indonesia, majestic trees have been preserved beneath layers of volcanic sediment over hundreds of years. The organic process of permineralization transforms them from wood to rock, leaving behind fossils ringed in gorgeous earthen hues. The sheer weight and density of the stone can be a bit surprising. We also enlist artisans to hand-process the most mesmerizing fossils into modern, functional bowls and dishes. Size, shape & condition vary.
